Cleveland debut!

“The virtuosity on display was arresting—Karttunen [is] perhaps the most impressive cellist on the scene today.”
Los Angeles Times

The brilliant Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen has mastered the standard cello repertoire and expanded it both in his guest appearances with the finest orchestras in the world and in giving premieres of such notable composers as Kaija Saariaho, Magnus Lindberg, and Tan Dun. Karttunen has also discovered many forgotten masterpieces and arranged a number of pieces for cello. His Cleveland debut will be a program of solo classics after which Kartunnen will be joined by I Cellisti, the octet of the Cleveland Cello Society, in performances of rare and beautiful ensemble pieces. $29, CMA members $28.
