Center for Art and Education
Most education programs are held in the galleries or in the education wing designed by the famed Swiss architect Marcel Breuer, which opened in 1971 and was renovated top-to-bottom in 2006.
For Classes and Talks
The lower level of the building houses the lecture hall and recital hall, each fully equipped with the latest audiovisual technology and wireless digital connectivity, and seating about 150. The Lecture Hall also has 16 and 35 mm variable-speed film projectors. Also on the lower level are six classrooms of varying sizes, a teacher prep room, and restroom facilities. Most of the classrooms are also AV and wireless equipped.
Ingalls Library
The internationally respected Ingalls Library now occupies the upper level of the building. In addition to accommodating the research needs of the museum’s curatorial staff, as well as students and faculty in the Joint Program in Art History and Museum Studies of the CMA and Case Western Reserve University, the library is open to museum members and the public.
At the heart of the new facility is a bright and airy reading room lit by a combination of natural light from clerestory windows and table lamps. The adjoining reference room offers more seating and houses the library’s substantial collection of artist clipping files, microfilm, and photographs, in addition to numerous other resources.
